Almond shells are a by-product from almond processing, generated in large volumes where almonds are hulled and shelled. With low moisture content, good grindability, and a relatively high heating value for an agricultural residue, they can serve as a practical renewable fuel that helps displace fossil energy. Almond shells are well-suited for co-firing applications at plants and other energy facilities.
